On 1/23/26, at around 8am, the Del Norte County Sheriff's Office received a call of a man who had swam out into the ocean from South Beach and disappeared into the wate… Was not swimming. He walked out into the water until he just disappeared. I was fishing there when the guy with the "pest control" vehicle pulled up and the guy hollered at him and he just disappeared.

On Thursday, December 4th, 2025, at 6:30 a.m., correctional staff from the Del Norte County Jail were alerted to an incarcerated person having a medical emergency. Custody staff and jail medical personnel immediately responded and administered emergency medical assistance. Paramedics responded to the Del Norte County Jail, however the incarcerated person was pronounced deceased by Sheriff’s Deputy Coroners on December 4th, 2025.
